Que?

I dreamed I found a book in my mailbox.

Every Time You Google

I read an article about Google going into the renewable energy business. And then it hit me. Google wants to become one of those world-(or universe)-ruling corporations that abound in scifi. They're already collecting information about every one of us internet users, and now they're branching out into the life-lines of the world. I also realised I wouldn't really mind if Google, such as it seems to be today, ruled the world. At least they treat their workers much better than your average corporation. Or government, for that matter...

Crawling away from Me

Time is supposed to pass faster when one's busy, right? Right?

WRONG!

26.11.07

Aftertrading

In the election night, I had diarrhea. How fitting.

25.11.07

Exit Polls

I really can't say I care who wins. Nothing will change. They're all scum.

I would prefer for the government to stay the same, though... At least, chances are the ministries won't get completely reshuffled again. It's a pain in the arse for us public servants.

24.11.07

Elections

Yay. Tomorrow, I shall again be voting against.

Although, some doublethink could make it a vote for...

22.11.07

Paracetamol

I think I'm done with this disease...

20.11.07

Cough Drops

I'm even being a good boy and eating my antibiotics... Whatever I might think about using antibiotics to treat upper respiratory infections.

19.11.07

Diseased

Sick. Head hurts.

Not necessarily a bad thing, though.

18.11.07

Fool's Gamble

I don't remember the last time it took me so long to finish reading a book, and it wasn't even a long book... So. Thief's Gamble by Juliet McKenna. A bad, bad book. It's not that there's anything wrong with the story, to the contrary... Oh, no. It's just badly written. Almost like a real book, the author says, and she is right. Almost, but not quite. So I don't think I'll be in a hurry to read the rest of the series (yes, there is more).

Brussels

Small.
One street wide enough to have a different name for each side.
Incredibly polite drivers. Incredibly, incredibly polite.
Enough kinds of beer to have me doing nothing but tasting for at least a month. Tried three, and brought another two home with me.
Oh so efficient public transport.

Now, if only the weather wasn't what it is, I might not even be so disinclined to go do some EUrocracy-related work... And if it weren't for those... Other... Things.

11.11.07

EUrocracy

Off to Brussels I go... Yay. Wee, even.

Right.

Gloat

I've never really liked Apple and their products. I intensely dislike QuickTime, iTunes even more. With the hardware, I have little experience - I used an ancient Mac to make graphs in one of my chemistry labs (the one-button mouse was hilarious), and I have a single iPod (the first generation Shuffle), but what I've used never managed to awe me. I don't personally know any Mac fanatics, but from what I've seen on the internet, they are an obnoxious bunch. Couple them with Apple's not-products-but-lifestyle philosophy, and you have me recoiling in disgust.

Having said this, I'm not that big on Windows. I use it only because it does all the things I want my computers to do. It doesn't do them stellarly well, so if I find an alternative that can do the same, I'll become a convert. And no, sorry, Lunix is far, far from being it.

So it was hard to imagine, even to me, the amount of satisfaction I felt when I read first about the iPod price thing, then about the disaster that is the Leopard. Steve isn't a god after all, eh, fanboys?

Nobody Speaking

I stubbed my first nib yesterday. Sort of. Used a nail file. Turns out it isn't the ideal tool for that kind of work.

Still can't decide if it was a good start or not.

5.11.07

Emos in Space!

Mindless activities being so popular around here these days, I've been going through the old episodes of Stargate Atlantis. Had a realisation. Almost all the good guys in that show are emos. Overly dramatic in their good will, whiny people who don't seem to have a single, even the tiniest, pragmatic bone in their bodies. I wonder how some of them manage to fire their guns without crying themselves to sleep for days afterwards.

4.11.07

Focused Afocal

Yup. As expected.

Should I start repeating, I need a break?

2.11.07

Post-Day-of-the-Dead Day

I am so horribly annoyed. First I get annoyed by an idiot, then I make myself tea with too much water.

A beginning of a wonderful weekend.
