I Wish I Were an Addict

How tempting do the pink pills look...

W

I wish the world would leave me alone.

27.2.06

A Superpower

Here's a cool one: being able to convince people. But not in the sense of being able to talk them into things, more like the Jedi mind trick. And with no limits to range or strength. Imagine all the things one could (and couldn't) do with it...

26.2.06

Name the Song

Your rotted eyes
Look for a light
Your dying hands
Wander in the emptyness

(I dare you to actually hear the words.)

25.2.06

No Try

Do it, or do it not.

I think my period of enthusiasm is definitely over. I'm back to my black hole.

The Cow Is Not Mad

Finally, it's weekend. I just hope I shan't feel too tired to appreciate it.

The cow from my grandma's birthplace didn't have BSE. The local politicians, however, seem to. Not that there's anything new there...

A Montenegran wine is on the menu tonight.

Continued...

Not only do I feel really, really tired, I want to do this. This was a bad, bad day.

22.2.06

Middle of the Week

Now I'm just tired. Tired is bad. And it's not the lack of sleep, I feel exhausted. Meh.

21.2.06

Dark

If one beer was a bad idea, what does that make the second?

Feel

It might be the fatigue talking. It might be that the burst of cheerfulness I've been experiencing has worn out. It might be... I feel that something is wrong. And I am, again, in the not wanting to sleep phase.

20.2.06

Not Yet

I admit it. I've been spoiled by all these years of using OS' with a GUI (such as it is). Combined with the fact that I hate typing code... Which means, no Lunix for me any time soon, especially not with all the fancy hardware I have and like to use.

19.2.06

What?

Or even better, why?

18.2.06

Saturday Divine

I think I'm losing the patience for my beard...

17.2.06

Clean Cars...

...are a product of sick minds. I wonder why I haven't washed my car in five years now, then...

Progress Unappreciated

To return to that scribe from a few days ago... Imagine how happy he would be if somebody gave him a ballpoint pen to go with the paper. And here I am, using fountain pens and wishing I had a proper dip pen. Go figure.

15.2.06

Nurse!

My brain is hurting!

13.2.06

500-Pack

I had a pack of office paper in my hands today... Perfectly white, 80 grams per square metre of silky smoothness, for use with any imaginable sort of writing instrument or machine. Something we take for granted, to use and waste as we see fit.

Now, consider a 13th century scribe. I think he'd sell the souls of his entire monastery to get his hands on one of those packs of paper, and then die in ecstasy upon seeing it. Quite a different perspective, isn't it?

11.2.06

Dark and Dreamless

I want to sleep.

A Tradition Coming

The last bottle of Robert Skalli's Merlot (2000) and me. The scary thing is, I've been craving for this moment this whole week. Just a bottle of wine, and me. Glorious, all-obliterating drunkness.

Future is either an abstraction without substance, or non-existant.

Name the Song

So I close my eyes... And I can see the shadows rise,
On black wings I fly... As I cross the dark sky,
So I close my eyes... And I can see the shadows rise,
When daylight dies... Eternally...

Look, and Thou Shalt Find

The recent cases of public disorder, to put it mildly, in Croatian bars and night-clubs which favour the so called turbo-folk music (an abomination extremely popular amoung our immediate eastern neighbours) seem to have drawn the attention of the police to such places. Well-deserved attention, since they have found several wanted persons, stocks of illegal weapons and pirated music CDs in the establishments they raided. Says something about the mentality of our criminals.

Good and well. But... The establishments of this kind are are also frequented by a part of the law enforcement community as well. And that is disturbing.

6.2.06

Copy-Paste

Five NGOs (average) are registered every day in our capital. Thousands of them exist already. They all get money and very cheap office space. And they will all denounce you for an enemy of freedom and demand that you be lynched as such if you even think of suggesting that their motives are of any shade but the purest white.

5.2.06

A Moment in Time

I've just had one of those moments I wish would last forever...

4.2.06

Progress!

Want an unreliable car that's been made even more so by modern technology? Then Fiat is your choice! Because they secided to use a Misrosoft OS to run their in-car computer systems!

As much as I love technology, I'm sometimes scared by it.

2.2.06

Hax0rz

Having a hard drive which has been sitting around doing nothing, I bought it a box to work in. Having a working hard drive with no real purpose refreshed my intention to install some kind of Lunix to see what all the hype is about. Ubuntu 5.10 was the distro of choice, since I've had pleasant experiences with the live CD version. Namely, it was the only one which properly used the full resolution of my wide-screen monitor.

So I install. And it is installed. Happily, I try to boot. It boots. To the point of starting the boot loader. And that was it. It can't mount the boot partition. The one it has just booted from. The one it was installed onto. A Lunix thing, I hear, having to be told that the drive it's on exists. Even then it sometimes doesn't believe you.

I think I'm rapidly reaching the point where things are stopping to be worth the bother. The only thing that can save the Project Lunix now is the boredom at work, I think.

Disgusted

The most famous brand in the country which has delayed the asbestos production ban for another six months, says a person I shall not name at a news conference, is a man accused of war crimes. With the purpose of whose defense a foundation has been founded today. Because he is, poor man, poor, and needs more money. I wonder where the money he has spent hiding from the authorities, and he has spent more than I'm likely to make in my lifetime, came from... I suppose there are different kinds of poor.

Oh, yeah. In this country, an officer who rapes a soldier isn't likely to spend more than a year and a half in prison. If he ever gets into one.
