Politics among Friends
Croatian Social-Democratic Party, wants to be my friend.
The first reaction was, oh my sweet chopped carrot. A true WTF moment.
But I shouldn't really be surprised. Political campaigns on Myspace, Youtube and the like aren't really anything new. All the cool-kid-wanna-be politicians in the US are doing it, so why shouldn't our local budding hipsters? I'm not sure what they think they'll achieve with this, though, a rather large number of their 'friends' can't vote.
Another WTF moment followed when I realised the largest Croatian opposition party is... A 17-yo female from Connecticut. I've since figured out why the age (it's been 17 years since they stopped being Croatian Communist Union), and I suppose they think girls are nicer than guys, but why Connecticut?? As it turns out, it's Myspace's fault. All Croatians are from CT, according to them. Another, albeit smaller, WTF moment.
Request denied. Voting decisions being re-thought. Not because they wanted to be my Myspace friend, repulsive as that notion may be to me. No. Because their PM candidate is turning out more and more obnoxious daily.
