Friends!

My on-purpose-pointless Myspace account is seeing an unusual amount of activity lately. Two random friend requests (from real people, not spam bots) in as many days might not seem like much, but it's most I ever got.

The first one was from some NGO hunger-fighter world-peace racial-tolerance whatnot wanna-bes. Why they thought I would even want to be associated with the likes of them, even in such a lame way as being on their Myspace friends list, is beyond me. Judging by the 99 pages of 'friends' they do have (including Tom), they've been diligently going through the search results and adding all the people from the ex-Yugoslav countries they could find. They reminded me of the purpose of my Myspace account, though, and I feasted on stupidity, but in the end, the deny button was used. Decisively and without hesitation.

The second case wasn't that clear-cut. The request came from a band. I'd like to know how they found me... I removed my Last.fm chart a while ago, and they have only 12 pages of friends, so it doesn't seem like they've been adding everybody. It turned out their music is something I might not be disinclined to listen to (closer to don't like than like, isn't it), so I used the accept button. The down side is that I'll now have to put up with the bulletin concert announcements, but I can't begrudge them that - they are a band, it's what they do. And there's always the delete button if it becomes too bothersome...
