Almost 30% of Croatians are poor, according to the most recent study by the local Catholic Church. (Or, as the media would say, almost one third; the appalling lack of educated journalists in this country is a well-known issue, but this is rather basic math...) But, I digress... I now feel appallingly rich. Which would be rather nice if I really were. Which I am not. I realise I am not a typical Croatian, with bank accounts always in positive, no loans, who pays for what he buys immediately (and in cash, if that means a discount). But rich? No.
Smarter than the great majority of my fellow countrymen? An appealing thought. If only my fellow countrymen weren't so generally stupid...
