The Quasi-Pagan Stuff

The Midwinter Night. The longest night of the year, and the shortest day. I wish I could find some appropriate symbolism in it, but I can't. It doesn't matter.

It is the Midwinter Night, and I shall celebrate, and only the dark, growling music will be allowed in the background. I shall not light a pyre, nor shall I sacrifice virgins (those are the Midsummer Day activities; being outdoor ones, they are better suited to the weather of that season). But celebrate I shall, drink and be merry, even though I'll be celebrating alone.
