Childhood Memories

Being a kid was fun. Things were simpler, and the toys cost less.

One of our favourite games was the game of war. (Kids don't play this any more, today they have gaming consoles. Which is a shame.) We'd split in two teams, and then run around the block 'shooting' at each other with our toy weapons. The funny thing was the way we decided how to divide the teams... Of course, the skills of individual players at hiding and seeking were considered, but the distribution of 'weapons' the players had was of great importance. For one team to have more plastic machine guns than the other team was considered unfair, even though we didn't have any rules which would make plastic pistols and plastic assault rifles tactically different. But we spent almost as much time arguing over that as we spent arguing over who was 'hit' and 'dead', and who was not.
